About Us

Karen Taylor has specialised in British drawings and watercolours since the 1980s. A private dealer, she places work regularly with international institutions and collectors and holds regular exhibitions in St James's, London. She is proud to have sold to many of the world's leading museums including the British Museum, the Courtauld Institute, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Fitzwilliam Museum, the National Trust, the National Gallery of Scotland, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, Exeter, Hereford Museum and Art Gallery, Baltimore Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, Cleveland Museum of Art, Delaware Art Museum, the Getty, Harvard Art Museums, the Huntingdon Library, the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Art Gallery of Ontario, The Princeton University Art Museum and the Fondation Custodia, Paris.

After studying history at Oxford she worked in Sotheby’s British Picture Department for ten years running auctions of Topographical Paintings and British Watercolours. In 1993 Karen moved to Spink to run the Picture department where she pursued her interest in British paintings, watercolours and drawings of all periods, and Indian, Orientalist and China Trade paintings. Karen represented Spink at major international art fairs and served on the picture vetting committee for the Grosvenor House Antique Fairs. In 1999 she established Karen Taylor Fine Art and operates by appointment from west London.
