KT340 Watercolour heightened with bodycolour and gum arabic 14 x 17.5 cm; 5 ½ x 6 ¾ inches Provenance Covent Garden Gallery Shiva Lal ran an art shop in Patna and his work is characterised by the elongated limbs seen in the bearers of the palanquin and the delicate watercolour horizon in this drawing. Means of conveyance were one of the subjects in which he specialised. Further examples of his work can be found in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum.
